Anthony Santillo first ventured into the amusement field in the mid 1930’s when he was chosen by his church society to operate the lemon ice stand at a carnival where he cranked ice by hand.  He sold the ice cones for 3 cents each, grossing the incredible sum of 6 dollars in only one day.

Always a man of vision, he recognized and created opportunities.  He persuaded a major meat producer to build hot dog stands to promote the sale of its meat products and began a food concession operation that became identified with his name.  He stressed quality and service which was to be the basis for his expansion of food concession operations through the years at major fairs in the eastern United States.

Tony Santillo introduced the Italian sausage sandwich as a new food item in places where patrons were totally unfamiliar with this product, and it became so well received that customers bought it by the bucket to take home.  This success prompted others to offer this product so that the Italian sausage is as commonplace as the hot dog or hamburger.

During the time that Tony took off from the food concession business to serve his country during WWII, he left the operation of his business to his wife Josephine and his children, Louis, Shirley, Anthony Jr., Samuel, and Frances.   After Louis served his country during the Korean conflict, he came home and began to grow his own business while helping his father.  Louis carried on the tradition and the business into his seventies.  When he retired he passed his personal equipment and locations on to us.
